These US mortality data from the CDC show the crude death rate for the aggregate of 100 * (deaths by suicide + alcohol abuse + drug abuse) / population size.

This chart plots deaths of despair for Whites, Blacks, Other, Natives, and Asians. It shows the phenomenon of young males being more likely to die from suicide, drugs, or alcohol is especially strong among Native Americans adding support to my "theory of defeat."
