Severity of crop failure

The data from Afrobarometer survey indicates that a clear majority of adults perceive worsening crop failures over the past decade; 44% report that losses have become “much more severe,” and an additional 14 % say they are “somewhat more severe.” In contrast, only 15% feel that crop failure severity has remained unchanged. Meanwhile, 8 % observe “somewhat less severe” losses and 11 % “much less severe,” suggesting a minority have seen improvements. Notably, 8 % of respondents say they don’t know or cannot assess changes in crop failure severity. These findings underscore growing concerns about climate-driven agricultural stress in Namibia, with more than half of citizens experiencing heightened crop vulnerability in recent years.
