This chart is from "The AI execution gap in B2B marketing," a research report published by The Starr Conspiracy in October, 2025. This research was conducted to explore how AI is transforming B2B marketing within technology companies, focusing primarily on twenty core B2B marketing functions. Our goal was to capture a live snapshot of how AI is being evaluated, adopted, and operationalized by the people actually responsible for marketing outcomes. After screening, 307 qualified participants were included in the analysis. Participants represented a balanced cross-section of company funding and ownership models—approximately 29% revenue-funded, 27% private equity-supported, 26% bootstrapped, 11% venture-backed, and 7% publicly traded. This chart demonstrates the significant gap between marketing leader's perceptions of the potential impact of AI on B2B marketing versus the actual investments their companies are making in twenty core B2B marketing functions.
